Why We Prefer HomeAgain Microchips
HomeAgain microchips utilize patented anti-migration features to ensure that the microchip stays in place. Since the microchip is made of materials that do not degrade, the microchip will last the lifetime of your pet. For peace of mind, to ensure the microchip is still in place and working, you can have it scanned during checkups.
In the event you have the unfortunate experience of a lost pet, you can immediately notify HomeAgain through their website or hotline.
Recovery Network Mobilized – Immediately after receiving notification of your lost pet, HomeAgain sends out a lost pet alert to animal shelters, vet clinics, and members of our pet recovery network within a 25-mile radius of where your pet was lost.
Pet Is Scanned – HomeAgain has over 50,000 scanners, most shelters and veterinarians are equipped with scanners that can instantly read your pet’s ID number and notify HomeAgain that your pet has been found.

Does Microchipping Really Work?
As an example of microchips at work, recently one of our employees found a cat in the Target parking lot. She took him home for the night and the next day we checked for a microchip, thankfully he had one! Unfortunately, when we contacted the microchip company, we were given a contact number for the owner that was no longer in use. Rather than leave it there, we did a little more detective work and was able to find the veterinary clinic where the chip was inserted, in San Diego, CA! When we contacted the clinic, they said it was an intern that had worked for them 10 years ago! With an internet search of the owner’s name, we found a vet in Springfield, MO with the same name. We called the Springfield clinic, knowing it was a long shot that a cat found in Lee’s Summit, MO with a chip inserted in San Diego, CA could possibly belong to an owner in Springfield, MO. When contacted, she was elated that we had found her cat that had been missing for over a month! While this is a great example of how microchipping can work, it also serves to show how important it is to keep your contact information updated when you move.
